I've noticed this:

https://github.com/stellar/stellar-core/blob/18d5d5ebc12a5d623b523c114a4ac77ae31964ea/src/herder/HerderSCPDriver.cpp#L869 https://github.com/stellar/stellar-core/blob/18d5d5ebc12a5d623b523c114a4ac77ae31964ea/src/scp/SCP.h#L56

The return value of SCP::nominate is ignored.

How are failures handled in Stellar nodes when a call to SCP::nominate fail? Is there a retry mechanism, hidden somewhere else?

For example, if SCP::nominate fails, does the node wait an additional X time before attempting nomination again? It's not entirely clear to me.
